Question #4, Nov. 16th, 2010

Let's renew our minds. Let's think with the mind of Christ. Let's not conform our thinking to the world's thinking but transform our thoughts by infusing them with the truths of Scripture so they will resemble the mind of Christ.

Fill in your answers using the Scripture after each question.

When the world tells you to make violators pay, the mind of Christ thinks_________________________________.

Ephesians 4:32 (New International Version)

32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Luke 17:3-4 (New International Version)

3 So watch yourselves.
“If your brother or sister[a] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. 4 Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

When the world advises you get all you can---buy now and pay later---the mind of Christ thinks__________________.

Colossians 3:12 (New International Version)

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

When the world tells you "just do it," the mind of Christ thinks ___________________________________.

2 Peter 1:5-8 (New International Version)

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When the world says you can pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, the mind of Christ thinks _________________.

Philippians 2:13 (New International Version)

13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

John 15:5 (New International Version)

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

When the world persuades "it's all about you," the mind of Christ thinks_________________________________.

1 Corinthians 6:20 (New International Version)

20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Revelation 4:11 (New International Version)

11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
   and have their being.”

  1. When the world tells you to make violators pay, the mind of Christ thinks forgive that person.

When the world advises you get all you can---buy now and pay later---the mind of Christ thinks be patient.

When the world tells you "just do it," the mind of Christ thinks gain knowledge and self control.

When the world says you can pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, the mind of Christ thinks only God can pull me up I can do nothing on my own.

When the world persuades "it's all about you," the mind of Christ thinks I am only here because God created me, and I should honor Him above all things including myself.

  2. Be kind, compassionate and forgiving

Clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience

We need to add goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, Godliness, mutual affection, love....all of these things will keep us from ineffective and unproductive for Christ

Without Him we can do nothing

It is by Him and in Him that we live, it is for His pleasure that we were created and why we exist
