Look at Ruth 1:20-21 How did Naomi label herself?
Ruth 1:20-21 (New International Version)
20 “Don’t call me Naomi,[a]” she told them. “Call me Mara,[b] because the Almighty[c] has made my life very bitter. 21 I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted[d] me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.”
When you post your answer, also explain if Naomi's self- imposed label was fact, fate, or faith? Why?
Bitter, empty, afflicted.
ReplyDeleteIt was a fact that she had been thru very difficult times, but by pronouncing this as her fate, she was overlooking all that the Lord had done for her, and focusing only what she was going thru.
Bitter, Empty, Afflicted, unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteLike Michele said, it was a fact that she had been through very hard times, and she was speaking her fate into existence. She needed to trust in the Lord's goodness and provision.
It was her choice to be bitter. Yes her circumstances were bad, but she still had a choice, albeit a difficult one.
