The original Hebrew word for "still" in Psalm 46 (KJV) pictures a physical position. It's like letting your body go limp or relaxing the grip of your hand. It simply means you quiet yourself by acknowledging He is God and His ways rule.
Do you trust Him like a weaned child trusts his mother? Do you show resolve to His ways even when they aren't your ways? Do you trust Him if He changes up you structure, your security or points out your selfishness?
Consider these questions and journal a little about them in a post.
Although I know that the Lord is able and I trust Him, because I am a "fixer", sometimes it is hard for me to fully trust, I think especially if it effects one of my kids.....I usually have a plan a, b, c, d, etc. There are times when I jump ahead of the Lord and try it my way....only to realize once again that HIS ways are higher (and better) than mine.
ReplyDeleteI do need to do better at this. Sometimes what I know in my head and what I do are two different things. I need to "relax" and not try to jump in and do something, but to "wait" upon the Lord and give Him time to do what needs to be done or to show me what needs to be done. I think we humans get too anxious and think something has to be done quick and we don't know what it means to relax and let God be God.
